Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has extended his warm salutation and Merry Christmas to Nigerian Christians as they celebrate Christmas.
“As we commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ, we give thanks to the Almighty for the Grace, Provision, and Protection extended to us as individuals, families, communities, as a State, and as humanity,” he said.
The press secretary to the governor, Humwashi Wonosikou in a statement quoted governor as saying that “the Holy and Festive season reminds us of our shared humanity and the common values that unite us irrespective of our differences. Christmas is that season that ushers in opportunity for renewal, fresh opportunities, and building on the successes achieved.”
The Governor expressed concern on the worst security and economic crises the people have had to contend with, adding that the profound message heralded by Christmas over 2,000 years ago remains as relevant today as it was two millennia ago. He therefore called on residents of the State to focus on the spiritual significance of Christmas and not allow challenges of life distract them.
Governor Fintiri advised the citizenry to ensure that “Christ’s luminous teachings continue to inspire hope and possibilities in them, despite the uncertainties that continue to confront the Nation.
He said the timeless message of God’s enduring and unconditional love for every person fortifies us in times of adversity, and challenges each one to be better.
“Therefore, during this blessed season, let us all share the gift of God’s love by giving of ourselves and sharing generously with all those in need; Let us use this Blessed and Sacred season to love our neighbours as we love ourselves, and to lay the foundation for a more fair, just, prosperous and cohesive society. Let us heed the call of the Great Unifier and leave any discord behind, so that we may march boldly into a better future together.”
Rt. Hon Fintiri noted that Love, peace, joy and hope are the golden thread woven into the Christmas story and challenged the people to exhibit those values during the coming elections in 2023.
“As we celebrate this Christmas, we are encouraged to ensure we conduct the best elections ever to enable us sustain the massive infrastructural development and peace enterprise the government has achieved. We were elected to serve the people, and we will ensure no stone is left unturned until every Adamawa citizen is free.”
While wishing the residents of the State a happy Christmas celebration, the Governor encouraged them to welcome into their hearts the message of love, compassion and care for one another, generosity, holiness and faithful worship of God.
