It’s the height of malevolence for Atiku to take Fintiri as political slave – Calculate

A People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in Adamawa, Umar Bello Jada also known as Calculate has berated former vice president of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar for thinking that governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri is his political slave.

Calculate who described the action as the height of political malevolence and insensitivity, said, such thinking is a misnomer and a serious political miscalculation on the part of the former vice president.

The position of Calculate came amidst virulent political screeds by apologists and associates of the former vice president who called governor Fintiri a traitor for congratulating former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike over his appointment by president Bola Ahmed Tinubu as minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

It may be recalled that Fintiri has shortly after Wike was sworn-in by president Tinubu as minister of FCT extended congratulatory message to the former governor in national newspapers and various online platforms.

The decision of the governor irked Atiku’s political associates who immediately launched relentless attacks on Fintiri calling the governor an enemy within.

It may also be recalled that despite being in the same party, Wike has in the build up to the 2023 general election superintended a strong front of five PDP governors otherwise known as the G5 against Atiku’s candidature over irreconcilable differences.

Mutual suspicion between Atiku and Fintiri’s camps has in the build up to the 2023 general election climaxed and become the major talking point in PDP as accusations and counter accusations nearly tore the party to smithereens.

But reacting to the renewed hostility against Fintiri, Calculate, who is a renowned associate of governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, said, the actions of such elements constitute a gross indiscipline and insubordination in the party calling on the governor to assert his authority by welding the big stick against such irritants and conflict merchants.

“It is the height of insurbordination for anyone who claims to be a loyal member of our great party to openly cast aspersions on the integrity of the governor being the leader of the party in the state, let alone the open expletives being hurled at him. Where is party discipline? Where is respect for the office and person of the governor?

“I call on the governor to take decisive actions against such abysmal conduct to show that he is really in charge of the party. Enough of this crass irresponsibility,” Calculate said.

The politician noted that Fintiri has shown great maturity in dealing with Atiku in the build up to the 2023 general election by stomaching all manner of acerbic insults and disrespect by his loyalists despite being in charge of the party machinery and despite his monumental support to Atiku which is responsible for his victory in his two previous outings in the state.

“The Atiku elements felt very convenient to spread misinformation and half truths portraying Atiku as the pillar of Fintiri’s political trajectory so as to blackmail him into submission to Atiku’s imperialism in the state.

“But the truth is that Fintiri has been the major plank upon which Atiku’s home grown popularity is anchored. This is due to the fact that Atiku has been losing presidential elections in the state in the past and only won in the two occasions when Fintiri supported his ambition in 2019 and 2023 general elections. To this end I will ask the rhetorical question who is deceiving who?” Calculate enthused.

While responding to the question of the propriety of Fintiri’s congratulatory message to Wike against the backdrop of Wike’s enmity to Atiku upon which his supporters based their accusations of double standards against the governor, Calculate said it is the height of insensitivity to think Fintiri as a governor does not have the prerogative to associate with others simply because they are on the wrong side of Atiku.

“It is the height of bankruptcy, wickedness and sublime ignorance for anyone to accuse Fintiri of belligerence towards Atiku simply because he congratulated Wike. Is Fintiri the person who appointed Wike? Was he in anyway instrumental to the appointment? This is an unwarranted transfer of anger.

“Remember Wike is a friend of Fintiri long before Atiku secures the party’s presidential ticket of PDP in the lead to the 2023 election. In fact, what caused the rift between Atiku and Wike is presidential politics. Then when did it become a law for Fintiri to avoid persons who had issues with Atiku?

“I want anyone to show me a document or even a gentleman agreement reached between the two leaders to the effect that Fintiri will embrace Atiku’s enemies as his own enemies. I had told the governor to be wary of Atiku ab initio because he does not mean well for him. I think my warning to that effect has today come to fruition,” Calculate added.

He noted that it is preposterous for those baying for Fintiri’s head to ignore the fact that respect or the opposite of it is not reciprocal by looking the other way when Atiku embrace Fintiri’s enemies and still castigate the governor when he relates with Atiku’s enemies.

“It is preposterous for these set of trouble merchants to think that respect should be misappropriated. These elements think it is okay for Atiku to embrace Fintiri’s enemies and made them the center piece of his politics and still think it is wrong for Fintiri not to deal with Atiku’s enemies. I must tell these jokers that karma is a bitch.

“Recently, Atiku held a meeting with Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Peter Obi who worked stridently against his candidature since they all looked for the same office with him. If the twosome who were in PDP had remained in the party and supported Atiku, he will have been the president of Nigeria today because the total votes scored by the three presidential candidates is more than double the votes secured by Tinubu.

“But despite the extent of the role they play in denying Atiku the plumb job, he felt convenient to meet with them but felt otherwise when Fintiri just felicitated with a friend. Can that action be justified even if we are practicing jungle politics?,” Calculate asked.

He called on the former vice president to withdraw his children and associates who are in Fintiri’s government for the sake of expediency since he has lost confidence in the governor so as to be political correct, noting that he cannot live in denial by openly working against Fintiri while his children and associates are in the payroll of the governor.
