Putin warns NATO of World War III amidst heightened tensions
Russian President Vladimir Putin has issued a stern warning, asserting that a direct confrontation between Russia and NATO could propel the world dangerously close to a third global conflict, as reported by Reuters.
Putin’s remarks come on the heels of his claimed landslide victory in Russia’s presidential election, securing 87.8 percent of the votes. However, the election has drawn criticism from the US, Germany, the UK, and other nations, citing concerns over political repression and censorship.

During a post-election briefing, Putin emphasized the gravity of a potential conflict, stating, “It is clear to everyone that this will be one step away from a full-scale World War Three. I think hardly anyone is interested in this.”
Recent statements by French President Emmanuel Macron hinting at the deployment of ground troops in Ukraine have further escalated tensions.
Putin, when asked about Macron’s remarks and the risk of conflict with NATO, remarked, “Everything is possible in the modern world.”
Putin also highlighted the presence of NATO servicemen in Ukraine, underscoring the delicate situation.
Earlier, Putin asserted Russia’s readiness for nuclear warfare, cautioning that any US troop deployment in Ukraine would be viewed as a significant escalation.
In response, President Macron urged Putin to refrain from making threats, particularly given Russia’s nuclear capabilities.
Dialogue between Macron and Putin has dwindled, with the French president noting that communication is only initiated “when necessary.”
In the United States, officials noted that there are no indications of Russia planning to employ nuclear weapons against Ukraine, despite Putin’s recent rhetoric.
