The chairman acknowledged the security challenges confronting some communities in the local government but said his administration had been working closely with security agencies and other critical stakeholders to address the situation and restore lasting peace.
He commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his interventions in restoring peace to the area and for the developmental initiatives aimed at improving the lives of the people.
Reviewing his administration’s achievements within the first 100 days, Yerima disclosed that the council had renovated the local government secretariat and furnished offices to create a more conducive working environment for staff and improve administrative efficiency.
He said the council also procured utility vehicles for the offices of the chairman and vice-chairman, as well as the Huba Traditional Council, to strengthen official operations and facilitate the discharge of their respective responsibilities.
On security, the chairman said his administration had provided support to local security operatives and the military as part of efforts to intensify security operations and tackle threats to lives and property across the area.
Yerima further disclosed that the council has rehabilitated roads in Wurodole to mitigate erosion and improve access, while a 100KVA transformer had been procured to address electricity-related challenges in the community.
Other achievements, according to him, included the provision of bursary allowances to students and the upgrading of primary healthcare infrastructure to improve access to basic medical services.
He maintained that the projects reflected his administration’s determination to translate its development agenda into tangible benefits for the people, despite the challenges confronting the local government.
Speaking at the event, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Project Monitoring, Hon. Augustine James, commended Yerima for what he described as a demonstration of foresight and commitment to grassroots development within his first 100 days in office.
James urged the people of Hong to sustain their support for the Fintiri administration and leaders at all levels, stressing the importance of collective participation in achieving peace and development.
Other speakers at the ceremony congratulated the chairman on his achievements within the period, describing the projects as evidence of his commitment to leadership and public service. They also wished him success in the discharge of his responsibilities.
The commissioning marked a milestone in Yerima’s administration, with expectations that the council would sustain the momentum in addressing security concerns and delivering essential services to communities across Hong Local Government Area.
