Says, Senator’s life in grave danger
The Northern Youths Council of Nigeria (NYCN), has condemned the petition to the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) against Senator Jibrin Barau, representing Kano North Senatorial District on his constituency projects and companies owned by his children.
“We call you here today to notify you and the World in particular that the attention of the Northern Youths Council of Nigeria has been drawn to a laughable petition to the ICPC against Senator Jibrin Barau, the Representative of Kano North Senatorial District on issues bothering on Constituency Projects and his children owning some companies,” the youths stated.
The youths added, “Ordinarily, we wouldn’t have bothered to join issues with them, but, for the recent events in Kano State that led to the looting and burning down of the Distinguished Senator’s Campaign Office. We have every fear that if we don’t rise in unison to protect one of the best that we have in the National Assembly, the financiers of this elements won’t hesitate to eliminate the Distinguished Senator. As the manifestation of their desperation all point to that.”
A statement issued by NYCN President, Isah Abubakar explained that the ICPC team that were dispatched to Kano to monitor constituency projects commended the Senator for being the most compliant in terms of execution of projects, saying, “If their phantom projects they are holding unto is anything worthy of attention, the all seeing eyes of the ICPC would have behold it.”
The group expressed concern on the recent events in Kano state leading to the looting and burning down of Senator Jibrin Barau’s Campaign office.
On the attempt to drag the children of the Senator into the fight for the soul of Kano State in 2023, the statement explained that his ( Senator) children are Nigerians and have the freedom to own both movable and unmovable property in any part of the country, including the companies they are being alleged of.
With the 2023 near the corner for the general elections, the group stated that there are moves against popular aspirants like Senator Jibrin Barau, saying that he has done much for his constituents both infrastructure and empowerment wise.
“Since his likes can’t be defeated in popularity contest which is the only way to acquire democratic power, people may resort to writing petitions and also resorted to backdoor approach in order to bring people that have good intentions for the people,” the group observed.
NYCN advised those behind the guerilla warfare against the Senator to stop hiding behind faceless group, suggesting that any aggrieved person or group should come up with constructive advice that would help the Senator and other politicians give their best to their people in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people.
It admonished Senator Barau and other politicians to remain focus in attracting projects to his constituency and continue in the good work they have been doing, while advising those against the Senator to stop hiding behind faceless group and non existing report and come out openly to challenge the Senator in a popularity contest.
The group called on all Security agencies to put search light on persons behind the circulated Non Existing and forged ICPC report should anything negative happen to Senator Jibrin Barau, his children or his investment.
