Truck crushes two to death in Adamawa

Two persons have been crushed to death by a truck load of cows heading to southern part Nigeria from Adamawa State.

It was learnt that the accident victims were crushed on Monday while riding motorcycle each at Jada junction in Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The police have confirmed the incident on Monday, but did not comment on casualties.

Spokesperson for the Adamawa State police command, DSP Suleiman Nguroje confirmed the incident saying “it’s true the accident was reported a while ago.

“Right now an investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing. After which we will also be able to determine whether there deaths or not”, he added.

An eyewitness, Muhammad Usman had informed that a trailer conveying cows from Jada had rammed into and crushed two motorcycle riders in Mayo-Belwa.

He said, “the trailer lost control while negotiating a bent at the junction, heading towards Jalingo, on its way to the South.

“He crushed two motorcycle riders at the junction. The riders died on the spot, their remains have been evacuated in bodybags by officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC)”, he said.
