No fewer than 70 women leaders from over seventy wards in Adamawa central senatorial zone of the state stormed Yola in support of Barrister D. D Azura’s senatorial ambition.
Azura is nurturing ambition to wrestle the Senate seat from the incumbent senator Aisha Ahmed Binani in 2023 under the banner of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The women leaders of the party from each of the wards of the seven local governments stormed venue of the meeting Adamu Atiku foundation secretariat along Mubi road in the state capital were visibly happy to meet with the man of the moment D. D Azura.
The women who are party leaders at the ward level came from Hong, Gombi, Song, Girei, Fufore Yola North and Yola South local Governments turn out to meet with the first aspirant ahead of the party primaries coming up later in the year.
The Senatorial hopeful Barrister D. D Azura who was overwhelmed by the turnout of women despite the distance, said it is an indication that they are in full support of the movement.
He assured them that as a legal practitioner and business man with vast experience in his profession, he will deliver the goods if given the opportunity.
Azura reiterated that the level of support demonstrated by the women leaders is an indication that they are committed to bring in someone that has all requirements to represent them well in the senate .
In their separate remarks different women leaders described the man D. D Azura as the first Senatorial aspirant they are meeting, believing that his level of commitment has proved that he is the best candidate for the seat.
They vowed to go back to their various wards to ensure that they canvas for the nomination of Barrister DD Azura as PDP candidate for Senate Adamawa central zone.
The women leaders assured him of their total support in realising his ambition describing the ambition as their own personal project to bring Azura as senator.
It could be recalled that Barrister DD Azura in a meeting on 31st December 2021 made his intention known to contest for the Senatorial seat of Adamawa central come 2023.
