LG polls: Fintiri denies anointing lackeys

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has denied rumours to the effect that he has anointed lackeys in the forthcoming local government election in the state.

The governor who dropped the hint during a high level stakeholders meeting of the party at the Dougirei government house Yola, insisted that all aspirants have equal chances as due process will be followed in the build up to the polls.

Fintiri urged all aspirants to follow due process of the law and stopped using his name to gain undue advantage over other aspirants calling in them to instead face win the electorates to their side as they are the ultimate deciders.

” I implore those nursing chairmanship and councillorship ambition to endear themselves to the people of respective wards and LGs.

“I am not going to impose anyone on any local government as their next chairman or councillor. Anyone who wants to be Chairman or Councillor of the local government should try.

“All those hoping on me, I want to disappoint you. I am an experienced politician. I have seen it all”, he noted.

Speaking further, Governor Fintiri said no Local Government Chairman should expect an automatic ticket for the second term.

He said that the emergence of any Local Government chairman for a second term would be on merit and performance based.
