Residents of Yola town were on Monday thrown into disquiet when some outlaws popularly known as Shila boys’ hacked a vigilante operative Abdulmalik Sale to death.
The incident according to sources occured at 10:00pm at Unguwar Tabo along Abuja road in the ancient town.
The 23 year old Abdulmalik and a metre installer with Ijeyi Business Power Investment Limited was attacked by some men suspected to be “Shila” boys on that fateful night while returning back home from a shop.
Sources said the outlaws who over the years gain notoriety for robbery and other violent crimes in Yola and environs might have been attracted by the android phone the victim was using at the time of the attack.
“The attackers inflicted matchet cuts on the head of late Abdulmalik and also beat him with sticks on the stomach. They carted away his GSM mobile phone and fled the scene of the crime immediately,” a resident said.
Abdulmalik, according to sources was found lying unconscious in the pool of his blood with deep cut on the head.
“The victim and member of the local vigilante was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Yola, and died the following day while receiving treatment,” another resident told our reporter.
When contacted for confirmation, the spokesman of the state police command, DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said that nobody reported the incident to the operatives of the command.
He advised the general public to keep police abreast with happenings around their communities for necessary action.
