The member representing Guyuk/Shelleng federal constituency, Honourable Gibeon Goroki, has dismissed attempted plans by some constituents to recall him from the house of representatives saying the move is dead on arrival.
The lawmaker came under vitriolic attacks by governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s apologists after the lawmaker accused the governor of haughtiness, highandedness, and other sundry infractions.
Piqued by the lawmaker’s vituperation, some residents of the federal constituency initiated the recall process.
In the letter sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) resident commissioner seen by this paper, the constituents accused the lawmaker of inciting sectarian tension and dereliction of duty among other infractions warranting their actions.
But describing the action as laughable, Goroki maintained that what they were doing amounted to a storm in a tea cup noting that he is ready to face the cross for telling the governor his mind as he is not the governor’s stooge.
He said his candid counsel to the governor is aimed at tightening some loose ends so as to strengthen and refocus the party ahead of 2023 noting that he has no regret for airing his views on issues and developments in the party.
Meanwhile, this paper learnt from impeccable sources that the party has pencilled down the lawmaker for expulsion.
A source told our reporter in confidence that stakeholders in Guyuk local government have already sealed the fate of the lawmaker as they have unanimously agreed to send him packing.
A source privy to happenings told our reporter that the party stakeholders have agreed to expel the lawmaker from the party.
“The stakeholders have unanimously endorsed the expulsion of the lawmaker for his condescending behavior and show of irresponsibility. The option of recall is not viable for us as it is a very difficult process. So we settled on the expulsion of the lawmaker to serve as deterrent,” our source said.
