In commemoration of the International Women’s Day (IWD), the founder of the Almond Life Builders Initiative, Ms Omolola Mary Anike Akindoyin has paid a sensitization visit to Terry-Gem Royal Excel Academy in Jahi I Abuja where she sensitizes the schoolgirls on the importance of education and menstrual hygiene.
The IWD is a special day dedicated by the United Nations to x-ray the challenges women face globally.
Ms. Akindoyin has adopted Jahi I for community service and outreach to vulnerable persons in Abuja.
Speaking on the theme of this year’s IWD “Break the Bias”, Anike told the girls that for women to attain their full potentials in the society, they must be enrolled, retained and complete their basic education.
She urged them to be steadfast and pursue their education with exuberance just as she counseled them to maintain a good and healthy menstrual hygiene.
During the event, the students were given opportunity to ask questions and contribute freely to the robust conversation towards a better society for girls and women.
Highlight of the occasion was the distribution of adolescent kits which Ms Anike gave freely to the students.
While thanking Ms Akindoyin for the gesture, the proprietress of the school, Mrs Ijeoma Eze, expressed gratitude and urged the foundation to maintain the tempo and reach out to girls in rural communities as they need such intervention the more.
