NPA donates 250 beds, 500 mattresses to GMMC Yola

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), has donated 500 mattresses and 250 double bunk beds to Famous General Murtala Mohammed College Yola (GMMC) in Adamawa state.

Presenting the donation in Yola Wednesday, Technical Assistant Administration to the Managing Director of the ports Authority, Ismail Alhassan Abubakar said the intervention is part of the NPA’s corporate social responsibility to enhance conducive learning atmosphere.

Represented at the occasion by a member of the Alumni Association of the college, Honourable Ahmed Abbo, Alhassan stated that the present realities of life has shown that the government can not do it alone rather with complimentary efforts like this.

Alhassan urged the college management and the benefiting students to ensure judicious use of the items provided noting that the college has produced many prominent personalities that have excelled in different works of life who are paying back to the school in many different ways.

“I urge you to make good use of the facilities provided so that we will be encouraged to give more.And to the management,we call on you to complement the effects of the old boys by providing adequate supervision and security for management and protection of the facilities provided”.Alhassan stated.

In his hand over speech, contractor of the supply, Managing Director of Bams Nigeria Limited, Isiyaku Lukuman thanked the NPA for awarding his company to contribute in changing the fortunes of the College.

Lukuman announced that the contract was executed according to the contractual agreement and specifications which can last the taste of time .

“The provision of 250 double decker beds and 500 mattresses to this great school will not only assist the students in solving the accommodation problems but also equip them to be more focus on their studies.

“I therefore called on the students,the present generation and next to emulate the old boys by doing so,Tiddo Yo Daddo will continue to produce Tibbe who will further sharpen the socio-economic political wellbeing of the society “.Lukuman stressed

Earlier in his response after official receiving of the items,Principal of the college,Abubakar Baba Abbas expressed gratitude to the management of the Nigerian Ports Authority for the timely gesture.

Abbas told the gathering that his college has been facing bedding challenge but with the momentous gift the students will no longer sleep on the floor.

Abbas assured that the items will be put in to use immediately describing the gifts as a prayer answered for the college.
