Adamawa State Police command has apprehended one suspected drug dealer and his accomplice who posed as an officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) while trying to ship 100,000mg of Tramadol into the state.
A statement by the spokesman of the command, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje Thursday, noted that the two suspects namely Kabir Mohammed (41) and Musa Abubakar (29) are residents of Hotoro and Takum in Kano and Taraba States.
Nguroje said the command’s operatives in Doubeli and Jambutu divisions arrested the two suspects while on surveillance.
“The Commissioner of police Mohammed Ahmed Barde, psc(+) deployed command’s operatives attached to Jambutu and Doubeli Divisions and luckily apprehended a drug dealer along with fake NDLEA personnel.
“The suspects, Kalbiru Muhammed 41 years and Musa Abubakar 29 years
are residents of Hotoro and Takum in Kano and Taraba states and are on their way to deliver the hard drugs to their target in Yola.
“Investigation so far reveals that the drugs were concealed in a led Tv carton and a sound system (speaker) box to beat security checks and escape arrest.
“The CP while evaluating critically the pattern and trend of crimes shall make massive and well-planned deployment of both human and other operational assets of the command to reinforce and consolidate on keeping Adamawa safe.
“The CP now directed for frequent night Operations which is aimed at preventing and dislodging bandits from their current operational spaces and denying them space to regroup in other parts of the State.
“He further directs that the arrested drug dealer and his collaborators be properly investigated and prosecuted.
“The CP assured the Government and good people of Adamawa state that the Command under his watch shall continue to do all within its powers to guarantee a stable security order in the State.
“The CP calls on the civil populace to work with the Police and other security agencies in the joint tasks of safeguarding our State, especially in the area of providing useful, relevant and timely information,” the statement said.
