The chairman of Adamawa State council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Donald Dedan has on Saturday inaugurated a five man credentials committee to conduct the next election of the state council.
The chairman who inaugurated the credentials committee during the state Congress of the union, said, membership of the committee were selected in line with the extant provisions of NUJ constitution.
Those inaugurated include; Bashir Mallum ATV Chapel, Chairman; Hussaini Hammangabdo, Correspondents’ Chapel, Secretary; Gloria Abutu, Fombina Chapel, member; Alice Nicodemus, ABC chapel, member and Shetima Iiyasu, Information chapel, member.
The chairman urged them to hit the ground running considering the dearth of time for the conduct of the election which is billed to take place on 15 June 2022.
Also commenting, an ex-national official of the union and former chairman of Adamawa State council of NUJ, Salisu Abubakar Salisu tasked the members of the credentials committee to discharge their job without fear or favour.
He urged them to ensure all aspirants are giving enabling grounds to contest noting that only a credible, free and fair election will ensure the unity and progress of the union.
The zonal chairman of NUj Zone E, Comrade Baba Zare also urged the members to be meticulous in discharging the onerous responsibility adding that they were chosen based on merit.
He promised to work hand in hand with the committee to ensure the conduct of credible, free and fair election.
