Adamawa 2023: APC aspirants condemn LG election, identify, align with Otumba

The chairmen and counsellorship candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who participated in the recent local government elections in Adamawa state, having condemned the exercise, have commended the efforts of the their political party and the contributions of some of the members, more especially the governorship aspirant, Alhaji Umar Mustapha Madawaki, a.k.a Otumba of Ekiti whom they identified with and pledged alliance with his political aspiration.

The APC local government council aspirants forum led by Hon Ahmad Rufai Abubakar in a press conference Wednesday in Yola, the Adamawa state capital, described the 2022 LG elections conducted by the state electoral body as “a monumental charade and insult to the nobility of democratic tenets; in a word, it was a sham.

“Our stand is that the electoral umpire, simply conducted a SELECTION.

“We as true democrats condemn this act in its entirety. We insist that social justice remains the abiding justification for good governance and politics”.

The forum further recommended that in due recognition of the sacrifice and efforts of the gallant candidates, APC as a party should be magnanimous enough to honour the candidates with due commendations and certificates of consideration.

“We urge the party to understand that no election is too small to merit the party’s support and no area shall be conceded to our political rivals.

“The party must pursue its electoral goals with great enthusiasm, untiring industry, dogged determination and work side by side with candidates in the entire election process at every nook and cranny of the state”.

The forum having expressed her gratitude to the stakeholders and leadership of the party that contributed in one way or the other during the elections, has “specifically recognised the overwhelming support and assistance rendered to us by Alhaji Umar Mustapha Madawaki a.k.a Otumba of Ekiti.

“To this end, as a mark of our appreciation, we humbly identify and align with his aspiration and political endeavours”.

The Forum has Councillors and Chairmanship aspirants in the 19 of the 21 local governments of Adamawa state.

The forum revealed that the Chairmen of Girei and Mubi north local governments did not aligned with the group that aligned with the aspiration and political endeavours of Otumba; a name synonymous with the CHANGE as in “Canja Shi Otumba” crudely interpreted to mean “change him Otumba”.

The aspiration and political endeavours of Otumba who simply hearkened to the popular electorates call as expressed, is to get the APC governorship ticket and reclaim Dougirei Hill; the seat of government.

This is indeed a plus to Otumba, getting this substantial number of delegates on his side before the primaries and still counting.
