Adamawa State police command, has vowed to enforce the curfew imposed on some communities of Lamurde and Guyuk local governments of the state in a move to address the recurring communal clashes.
A statement by the image maker of the command, SP Sulaiman Nguroje urged the people to accord the security agencies the necessary cooperation to ensure lasting peace in the area.
“Following the declaration of curfew by the Adamawa State government over the recurring communal clashes in parts of Lamurde and Guyuk local government areas, the Adamawa state police command wishes to advice members of the general public particularly those in the affected areas to respectfully comply with the order, as a measure in preventing further breaking down of law and order.
“The commissioner of police CP S.K Akande while assuring that the command and other security agencies will respect the rights of the citizens, equally enjoin them to forthwith avoid all forms of activities capable of threatening the security of the state.
“However, the command will not in any way allow hoodlums and misguided elements to operate unchallenged, despite the fact that security agencies will operates in such a way that doesn’t constitute force to create scenario that will lead to loss of lives while dealing with those forementing trouble.
“A task force team that comprise of all security agencies will be going round to monitor compliance and equally enforce non-compliance,” he said.
