~ Pledges sustained synergy, cooperation
Members of a transparency and accountability group under the aegis of Good Governance Group (3G) have on Thursday paid a courtesy call on the newly appointed Director General of Adamawa State Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Mr. Joseph Markus and pledged sustained mutual and beneficial relationship.
The interim chairman of the group, Babagari Baraya who congratulated the new DG also intimated him of the robust partnership between 3G and the bureau pledging to sustain the tempo.
Baraya who go down history lane told the DG that already the 3G group has made efforts to ensure that its member are incorporated into the board of the BPP in line with extant statutes.
He also noted that members of the group sequel to an advocacy visit on the bureau have begun process of registration with the bureau adding that none of those who submitted their papers was registered up till the time of the courtesy call.
Baraya said being one of the critical institutions that carry out procurement processes of the government, the bureau is of immense interest to the 3G group which entails the robust synergy over the years.
He indicated the group’s readiness to always be at the door steps of the BPP for the general good of all Adamawa residents noting that the group is supportive not antagonistic to the bureau and by extension the state government.
Commenting, the DG of BPP, Mr. Joseph Markus thanked the group for the cooperation it has been extending to his organization.
He however urged members to ensure that they duly register with the BPP in line with the constitution adding that the group can’t be part of the procurement processes if members did not duly register with it.
Markus noted that procurement is about due process which cannot be an exclusive affair of one organization adding that the 3G will always be accommodated in the affairs of the bureau if they comply with due process of the law.
“You cannot be part of the bidding process if you are not fully registered with the bureau. Even our procurement officers have to be fully certified. If you are fully registered, you will be recognized and carried along,” Markus emphasized.
