Adamawa APC in deep crisis as plans for chairman’s removal gather steam

~ The allegation is a creation of the rumour mill – Spokesman

Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is currently wading through a storm as some excos of the party are working valiantly to axe the chairman of the party Ibrahim Bilal over alleged gross misconduct, this paper has learnt.

Sources in the party told our reporter that the aggrieved excos are compiling signatures to effect the removal of the chairman and have even reached advanced stage with their plans.

Some of the complaints against the APC chairman warranting his removal border on impunity, corruption, dereliction of duty, alleged financial wrongdoings and the dearth of capacity by the chairman to run a complex system like APC being an unlettered head.

“Alhaji Ibrahim Bilal has committed a number of infractions which in our estimation constitute gross misconduct.

“The chairman has perpetrated a number of unpardonable atrocities including entrenching the highest level of corruption, dereliction of duty, primitive accumulation of wealth at the detriment of other party excos, abuse of office, executive impunity, economic malfeasance, corruption and indiscipline.

“The chairman also lacks character, carriage and most importantly the educational background to run a big and complex organization like our great party.

“In his years of stewardship, Bilal has converted the party to his personal belonging while the executives of the party were made his serfs and has been unilaterally running the party like his personal investment with little regards to code of conduct and other extant procedures guiding the administration of an important institution like our great party.

“It is on this ground the we the concerned exco desirous of restoring the lost glory of the party felt that we must put a stop to this descent before the chairman under whose care the party lost power in the state in 2019 to People’s Democratic Party (PDP) administers the final death knell on our great party and hence this resolve,” the source said.

Efforts to contact the chairman proved abortive as multiple calls to his number were not responded to. Also and SMS and Whatapp messages to his line were not responded to at the time of filing this report.

But dismissing such move as another creation of the rumour mill, the party’s spokesman, Abdullahi Mohammed said the story is unfounded and is archetypal to beer parlour gossip.

“You cannot just sit down and collect signatures and say you’re sending somebody. There are processes that you need to follow.

“Sometimes people are exaggerating things. The constitution provides for fair hearing even if there are allegations on someone, he must be served with the allegations and be given the opportunity to respond and clear his name.

“So we should not be picking news items on the street and think they are genuine,” the spokesman said.
