In a move to address manpower shortfall for formidable healthcare delivery services, the Adamawa state government has approved the recruitment of 600 more health workers in the state.
Executive Chairman of the Adamawa state Primary HealthCare Development Agency (ADSPHCDA), Dr. Suleiman Saidu Bashir disclosed the development in an interactive session with select journalists in Yola Yesterday stressing that the approval by the state executive council will go a long way in ensuring quality assurance.
Dr. Bashir explained that last year the Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri led administration employed 1,113 health workers and another set of 36 technical workers with a view to face the demands of the teeming populace.
Bashir explained that the Agency is currently undertaking its various routine healthcare delivery services christened ‘an integrated immunisation campaigns’ across the 21 local government areas in the state.
He said routine immunisation such as Circulating Mutant polio Virus type 2 (CMPV) and Non polio supplementary Immunisation Activity (NPSIA) are ongoing in the 21 local government councils with appreciable turnout from residents.
According to Bashir Maternal Neonatal Tetanus Elimination (MNTE) exercise is being administered to the populace in Numan local government area while Outbreak response (OBR) immunisation will commence on the 10th to 14th September across the 21 local government areas.
He maintained that his Agency (ADSPHCDC) uses grass root based strategies in creating awareness and mobilisation including engaging traditional and religious leaders for massive outreach in the state.
Answering a question on the support from their partners and donors, Dr. Bashir expressed gratitude to the many of them such as international Committee of the Red Cross, ICRC, UNICEF noting that World Health Organisation (WHO) alone has procured drugs worth N1.2 Billion and donated to the Agency.
The Executive Chairman enjoined the public to cooperate with health workers whenever they are in their locations reietrating that the Agency is committed to providing quality healthcare services to all.
