Acting chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, Samaila Tadawus has assumed full duties with a pledge to deal desicively with indiscipline and corruption.
The appointment of Tadawus was sequel to the impeachment of his immediate predecessor, Ibrahim Bilal who was impeached on September 5, 2022 over alleged gross misconduct.
Taddawus who addressed members of the party at the state secretariat complex of the party in Yola, Saturday, shortly after his return from Abuja noted that he is now the legitimate chairman of the party.
“I’m now the legitimate chairman of the party after my position has been ratified by the national secretariat of the party. So I’m assuming leadership of our great party in acting capacity following the resignation of my immediate predecessor, Ibrahim Bilal,” he said.
Reading a riot act to the members of the party, Tadawus said henceforth, no act of indiscipline will go unpunished adding that anybody who ignores such warning does it at his own peril.
He also pledged to ensure the victory of the party from the presidency to the state assembly come 2023.
“I wish to assure you that I will run this party with a deep sense of commitment, passion and fear of God knowing fully that these attributes are what the party desperately needs now.
“I urge all our party comrades to put the events of the past weeks behind and come together as one indivisible party to confront the daunting task of sending the PDP out of the government house come 2023.
“In my resolve to restore the image of our party, I will make sure it is fully democratized and ensure best practices in running its finances.
“I want to restate that the era of indiscipline and anti party is over. You either belong to APC or you don’t belong to us but under my watch anti party activities and financial recklessness will be dealt with decisively,” he said
He reiterated the resolve of his leadership to pursue the party’s current reconciliatory drive with zeal saying that stakeholders who spent their hard earned monies to ensure the growth of the party will be given their due respect and place in the party.
He thanked the immediate past chairman of the party Ibrahim Bilal for willingly resigning to allow peace and unity in the party.
“I have told you that I was elected to deputize Bilal. But he has willingly resigned to allow peace to reign in the party. He has also promised to remain a loyal party man desirous of the development and progress of our great party,” Tadawus said.
