62nd independent anniversary: I’m ready to defend my actions publicly – Fintiri

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has vowed to defend actions and policies of his administration in the last three years.

The governor who made the pledge via his 62nd independence anniversary speech noted that he met a state reeling in deep seated economic dislocation, insecurity, and the negative effect of COVID-19 pandemic adding that despite these numerous challenges, his administration has succeeded in changing the ugly narrative of the past.

“Reeling out of an unfortunate battle with Insurgents, kidnappings and Armed Banditry should give every citizen cause for concern. We came at a time that the State was passing through its worst challenges of Insecurity, Economic hardship and COVID-19 pandemic.

“Today, we are proud to tell our people that we’ve been able to change the ugly narrative and are ever ready to defend our actions publicly knowing fully well that we’ve made a difference in governance within our first tenure despite these challenges,” he said.

The governor who expressed sadness over the backwardness of our country expressed optimism that with a renewed commitment and patriotism, Nigeria would get things right in the future.

“Although we have become free of imperialist, we have not freed ourselves from underdevelopment and its challenges, there are many battles ahead to be fought and won. The battles yet for Security, Economic prosperity and the security of our people’s future lies ahead and remains to be won.

“So many years lies ahead of us to make the future we want starting from today. If we set forth at dawn, we can make this journey before dust. I believe in a new Nigeria going into elections in 2023 Nigeria would surmount its present challenges, and emerge stronger. But it will not just happen until we rise up to make the real change that Nigeria has been yearning for through the ballot.

“I urge you to renew faith with Nigeria as the Nation adds another year. We will get better, we will be greater. I assure you we will not abandon any of our ongoing projects. We will continue our infrastructural development until the last day of this administration,” he said.
