~Says Tinubu’s ambition dead on arrival
The presidential ambition of the former Vice president and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has suffered another setback, as a Christian group threatened to dump him if he failed to meet Rivera’s state governor Nyesom Wike’s demands.
The group called Coalition of Christian Group For Good Governance, Nigeria and Diaspora (COCGOG) said that the conspiracy that surrounded Atiku’s emergence at the primary election and how he and his cohorts are threatening Wike and the other Christian governors is signal of what Christians will go through under his regime.
In a communique issued at the end of the group’s meeting signed by pastor Emmanuel Yaoeh, Director of communications and made available to journalists yesterday, the group stated that Christians may be unsafe under Atiku considering the past events in the country.
“We call on PDP to make haste and dialogue with Governor Wike and his team before it is too late. We saw PDP as an alternative because APC sealed it’s house against the Nigeria Christians already.”
He added, “Unfortunately, the way PDP is handling our leader and brother, Governor Wike and his team (Five Governors all Christians) is sending a negative signal to us, we can’t pretend anymore. Isaiah 61;8 “For I the LORD love justice; I hate robbery and wrong; I will faithfully give them their recompense, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them”
The group noted that without Wike PDP would have died long ago, when Atiku, Ayu and others jumped to other parties to achieve their vaulting ambitions adding that Wike remained in the party to ensure it survive the political terrorism of All Progressive Congress APC.
The communique stated that the aim of the group is to fashion out a political process that will promote christian participation in decent politics and security management skills, realizing the increasing wave of insecurity in the country.
“Endemic corruption, lack of transparency, abject poverty, absence of free and fair election, massive unemployment and lack of respect to the rule of law have become the order of the day in the country,” he said.
He said ,”the group made several efforts and measures have been made to improve the situation by the Coalition, yet successive failures were recorded.
“The larger society seems to be too complex to penetrate but a leap from the Christian Groups can be a good starting point. Thus, Youth and women who form the largest population have power to initiate this spark of change from the corridors of their homes and Church to reach the larger Society.”
The Coalition also reviewed the current security situation in Nigeria and vehemently condemned and reject any acts of terrorism, kidnapping, banditry, ritual killings, Boko haram insurgency, fulani herdsmen killings/criminal invasions and assassination for whatsoever reason in the country.
“The Coalition condemn in strong terms the Muslim Muslim ticket of the ruling party APC which has generated tension in the country and cautioned the danger posed by use of religion to campaign by some politicians in the country.
“In order to address the problems concerns identified above, the group called on all especially, the Nigerian leaders to ,Intensify actions, cooperate and synergize on restoration of true peace and security in the country.
“We are convinced that it is time for Nigerians to unite and choose a leader with the capacity and capabilities to rebuild the broken unity, peace and confidence among the citizens irrespective of religion and ethnic affiliations ,” he added.
