Adamawa farmers under the aegis of the United Progressives Farmers Association of Nigeria (UPFAN) have endorsed the gubernatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party, (SDP), Dr. Umar Ardo ahead of the 2023 general election.
Disclosing the resolution of the Association in Yola weekend after a crucial meeting, National Chairman of the Association, Sheikh Muhammad Nurudeen Abubakar declared that the group had critically examined and deliberated on the political happenings in the state and have unanimously decided to support Dr. Ardo’s governorship ambition come March 11th 2023.
Sheikh Abubakar said the Candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) have consulted the Association for support but couldn’t meet the terms and conditions laid down by the Association adding that only Dr.Ardo fulfilled all their terms and memorandum of understanding which has since been signed and sealed between the duo.
Abubakar advanced that all the politicians that approached the (union) were screened thoroughly and scrutinized based on principles and ideologies noting that the SDP candidate was the only one who proved to them of his readiness to work in the interest of the electorate especially masses and farmers in particular.
He announced that the proposed blueprint of policies and programmes of Ardo were what captured the minds of their teeming members who collectively settled for him as the incoming Governor in Adamawa state pledging to work assiduously for his victory at the 2023 elections.
“UPFAN is a very strong movement for committed peasant farmers with the focus of contributing to feed the nation and create wealth to our people for economic development.
“Our number is our strength which we agreed to use in voting for Dr. Ardo as Governor in Adamawa state due to the simple reason of meeting our ideals of moving the state and country forward,” Abubakar stressed.
The Chairman told his members that Dr. Ardo has graciously donated 3 brand new Sienna buses and Monetary support to the Association which are in their custody already.
Collaborating the Union’s stand, Mrs Ladi James, Yola North coordinator of the Association advised both the membership of the Association and other potential voters to use their franchise wisely to vote credible politicians that have something tangible to offer.
Mrs James charged the electorate to collect their Permanent Voter’s cards, PVC for the elections describing votes as “seeds which if planted at the right place will germinate and that, what you plant as a crop is exactly what you will reap.”
Similarly, a political group tagged Binani Ambassadors have decamped to the Social Democratic Party, (SDP) to join forces with the UPFAN group to work for the victory of Dr. Ardo as Governor in 2023 polls.
Secretary of the group, Ambassador J.J disclosed the development while addressing the UPFAN leadership and its members at the meeting saying that Ardo remains the leading light to save the masses due to his integrity and track records as a politician.
“We as a group worked for Mrs Binani before but due to some unreconciled issues we have left her structure in the APC and now join forces with UPFAN to ensure Dr.Ardo succeed in his governatorial aspiration which we believe will change things for the better for all.”
Responding on behalf of the party, ALGON Chairman (SDP), Alhaji Abdulkarim Bunu expressed the party’s delight over the development saying that the party is waxing stronger by the day giving hope for the victory.
Bunu assures the UPFAN members and Binani’s Ambassadors of a level playing ground pledging that equal rights and opportunities will be accorded to them as old members of the party.
