A group of former students of Government Secondary School Mayo-Belwa in Adamawa state have commenced the construction of a block of clinic as a donation to the college.
Kick starting the foundation laying ceremony at the school premises Monday, chairman of the class of 99 old boys, Alhaji Muhammmad Lawan Jabo expressed gratitude to the school and teachers for knowledge and exposure impacted on them.
Jabo disclosed that the gesture by set of 99 was informed with the decision to help in constructing the clinic for the healthcare benefits of the students and neighbouring communities around the college.
Jabo told the teachers and the students that the class of “99” conceived the idea of building the health facility with a view to address the health care delivery challenge of the school which have been lingering for years.
“As a community project in supporting the government efforts in boosting education and if the project is completed,it will serve the school,immediate environment and community.
“The project if completed will provide male and female wards,consulting room,Pharmacy,waiting area and convenience so that a conducive atmosphere for learning can be improved,” Jabo stated.
Responding to the development, principal of the college, Mr. Hassan Modibbo expressed happiness over the intervention stressing that the support is one in a million for former students at O”level to look back at their college.
Modibbo said in human life, health is wealth noting that who ever provide you with health is giving you nothing more than wealth.
Modibbo enjoined the remaining students to emulate the gesture of the class of 99 so that posterity will treat them fairly in the future maintaining that education is the bedrock of all developments.
In his remarks, Chairman of the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of the school, Mallam Hayatu Genle thanked the set of 1999 for the wonderful contribution at the best of time.
Genle showered encomiums on the class of 99 saying that both the (PTA) Management and students of the college will forever remain grateful and indebted to them urging those behind to take it as a good lesson in life to be remembering those behind someone.
