After collecting N6m ransom, abductors behead council boss in Imo

The Sole Administrator of Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State, Christopher Ohizu, who was abducted last Friday, has been beheaded.

Ohizu’s abductors, who called themselves separatists, killed him on Sunday in a forest despite allegedly receiving N6 million as ransom.

They tied the council boss’ hands behind his back with a rope, while he knelt on the floor, before taking his life.

The video of the murder surfaced online on Sunday.

In it, the killers insisted that there would be no election in the country.

They also threatened to kill Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma and other Imo residents.

The abductors kidnapped Ohizu and two others on Friday after razing his country home at Imoko community in Arondizuogu area of the LGA.

They shot him in the legs before whisking him away a source said: “They beheaded the Ideato North Sole Administrator on Sunday.

“They posted the video of his beheading with his phone on his WhatsApp status. This was how people got to know that he had been beheaded.

“He was sliced after collecting a ransom of N6 millon. He was killed in such an inhuman way. The videos are terrifying. May God heal our land.”

Also in the video, the separatists said: “We are not ESN (Eastern Security Network), we are not IPOB (Indigenous People of Biafra), we are fighting to gain our freedom and there will be no election in the Southeast.”

But Police spokesperson in the state, Henry Okoye, blamed IPOB and ESN, saying the command was on the matter even before the killers released the video to the public.

Okoye, an Assistant Superintendent, said Commissioner of Police Mohammed Ahmed Barde inaugurated a high-powered team to probe the abduction and find the killers.
