Atiku gives INEC marching orders to release Adamawa guber result

Former vice president and the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to announce the gubernatorial election of Adamawa State without further delay.

He called on Nigerians and international community to intervene as the more INEC delayed the announcement the more tension and anxiety builds in the state adding that considering the plural nature of the state, it becomes more expedient for INEC to release the outcome of the polls.

The PDP presidential candidate said there is no need for further delay considering the fact that the election has produced a clear winner.

Atiku noted that a pent up anger is currently building in the state over the failure of the electoral umpire to announce the result calling on it to follow the path of honor by announcing the result in the interest of peace and order.

He said Adamawa has a history of peaceful and orderly election noting that for the peace and harmony currently being enjoyed in the state to prevail, INEC should do the needful by releasing the result of the election.

Atiku Abubakar added that so far the result of 20 out of the 21 local governments of the state has been released with PDP having an overwhelming margin noting that even if the purported result doctored by APC is used the PDP will still emerge victorious in the election.

He called on all Nigerians and the international community to put pressure on INEC to release the outcome of the election without further delay.

Atiku said in the wake of the tension generated by the Fufoure LG result imbroglio, he personally called the chairman of INEC to intimate him of the anomaly adding that despite the intervention, INEC is yet to live to its constitutional responsibility.

The announcement of result which started on Sunday runs into a stalemate following complaint by the PDP agent, Dr. Idi Hong who claimed that the authentic result of Fufoure local government has been hijacked by APC which produced a new result in its favour adding that they will reject the result with all their might.

On its part, the APC also vowed to resist the result being bandied by the PDP claiming that it was also doctored.
