Fintiri retains seven old commissioners as new list of Adamawa executive council surfaces

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has retained only seven former members of the state executive council as new list of state commissioner nominees emerged on Thursday.

Those he retained include Dr. Ishaya Dabari, Dr. Garba Pella, Adamu Atiku, Aloysius Babadoke, Abdullahi Prambe, Yayaji Mijinyawa and Iliya James.

The action of the governor in dropping many former commissioners may not be unconnected to allegations of anti party activities levelled against many party stalwarts in the build up to the 2023 guvernorship election in the state.

In the same vein, many critical appointees of the governor in the last four years, including the secretary to the state government (SSG) Eng. Bashir Ahmad, former Chief of Staff to the governor, Prof. Maxwell Gidado (SAN) and the Director General media and communications to the governor, Mr. Solomon Kumangar, kissed the dust as they were left in the cold.

In what many interpreted as the final red card to undesirable elements in the administration, the governor has during a PDP stakeholders meeting in Yola vowed to only appoint persons who contributed significantly to the victory of the party in 2023 general election.

Findings reveal that a number of party faithfuls including commissioners and other senior government appointees who were allegedly not happy with Fintiri’s shabby treatment have been fingered in anti party activities.

Their aim according to sources close to the Dougirei seat of power was to prevent the governor from achieving his second term ambition prompting the governor to weed them out in the new cabinet.

Among the new commissioner nominees are; Barr. Wali Yakubu from Madagali, Mary Augustina Vasumu from Michika, Hon. Usman Abdullahi from Mubi South and Hon. Tijjani Maksha from Maiha local governments.

Others are Prof. Fintiwa David Jatau, Job Haggai Sama from Girei, Barr. Bello Hamman Diram from Yola South, and Chief Felix Tangwami from Demsa.

Hon. Ibrahim Haruna from Shelleng, Hon. Kallamu Musa Mohammed from Mayo Belwa, Emmanuel Biridimso from Toungo, Mrs. Nedo Geoffrey from Numan, and Titus Solomon from Lamurde also made the list.

The remaining nominees are Anthony Birina from Guyuk, Mohammed Sadiq from Ganye, and Ayuba Audu Tanko from Mubi North.

Governor Fintiri is keen on the swift consideration and confirmation of these nominees by the Assembly to ensure a fully functional administration.

The screening process, expected to take place in the near future, will thoroughly review the credentials and qualifications of each nominee.
