Subsidy removal: Adamawa CAN donates palliatives to vulnerable members
Adamawa State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has today distributed Palliatives to no fewer than 1,800 vulnerable members of the association including widows, orphans, people living with disability and the elderly.

The state chairman of the association, Bishop Dami Mamza told newsmen that the palliative was a token from the state government which was sent from the federal government to mitigate hardships being encountered by Nigerians following the subsidy removal.

Mamza noted that the association has received 1,500 bags of 10kg of rice as well as 300 bags of 50kg of rice noting that all were shared across the five blocks that constitute the state CAN chapter.

He urged all the other blocks to ensure that only the needy and vulnerable members of the association are considered as they are worst affected by the subsidy removal and are the targeted population.
The Bishop noted that in addition to the palliatives given, the Catholic church also contributed N1,000 token for its members to assist them with transportation as most of them came from far flung places.
“We are all aware of the palliatives that has been given to different states across the country in order to cushion the effect of subsidy removal. Adamawa State is one of the state that has benefited from the palliatives by the federal government.
“So far we received 1,500 bags of 10kg of rice as well as 300 bags of 50kg of rice. When it came to CAN we shared it to the five blocks to be given to the needy in their churches and community,” he said.
He charged members of the palliatives distribution committee to ensure only the vulnerable in the society are captured as it was solely provided to cushion their suffering.
Mamza also urged CAN officials against benefitting as the palliative is not meant for them adding that it will constitue a great infraction to deliberately deny the vunerable and the needy amongst the members.
Our reporter who went to the four remaining blocks including Christian Council of Nigeria, TEKAN/ECWA, OAIC and CPFN/PFN observed that the items are being shared in a convivial environment.
Some of the recipients interviewed thanked the state government and Adamawa CAN for carrying them along adding the gesture will go a long way in alleviating their suffering.
