Our correspondent reports that Ningi Emirate has been without Waziri since 1961 when the Northern Region Government ordered the suspension of the office to maintain peace and tranquility in the Emirate.

Adamu was the former Ambassador to Qatar during the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan. He is presently the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Reporting Council of the Federal Government of Nigeria.

In his remarks, Danyaya, the 16th Emir of Ningi, said he found it expedient and absolutely necessary to fill in the vacuum of Waziri office in the emirate, hence the turbaning of Adamu.

“The search was not easy, the result was the selection and subsequent appointment of Amb. Adamu as Wazirin Ningi.

“Adamu was selected based on his track record, community service, exemplary conduct and Support to the emir and the Emirate.

“Waziri is a highly exalted office which had tremendous influence in the administration of the kingdom,” he said.

The Emir announced that the Waziri is the chairman of the kingmakers of the emirate.

Responding, the newly turbaned Waziri Ningi pledged to be loyal to the emirate and the Emirate-In-Council.

“Despite the challenge in the Waziri office I would try all my best to be honest and sincere while carrying out my responsibilities,” he said.

Adamu assured the people of the Emirate that he would explore his influence to promote peace and development of the Ningi kingdom.

Dignitaries that attended the turbaning ceremony included former Gov. Ahmadu Muazu of Bauchi, Senator Abdul Ningi, Senator Halliru Jiks, Kassim Imam among others.
