PDP wins state constituency by-election in Adamawa
The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Musa Kallamu as the winner of the just concluded by-election for Mayo Belwa State constituency.
Declaring the Saturdays by-election results at the collation centre, the returning officer Professor Mohammed Baba Ardo of Modibbo Adama University Yola, revealed that, PDP’s candidate Kallamu scored a total number of 1306 to defeat the candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) Ibrahim Musa Italiya who garnered 874 vote.

The Returning Officer said Kallamu won six out of seven of the polling units in the election adding that having satisfied the requirements of the law, Kallamu has been returned elected.
The RO declared that total number of registered voters as 5024 adding that 2252 votes were accredited while 2192 valid votes were recorded just as 06 votes were rejected and a total of 2252 votes were cast.
The returning officer explained that, during the 2023 election 20824 valid votes were cast and 367 votes were rejected. He said out of the number, APC scored 7912 while PDP scored 7840 with margin of 72.
He said the cumulative votes scored from the initial votes and the by-election stand thus: registered votes 56999; accredited votes 24610 while the total votes cast are 23443.
He declared that the candidate of PDP who scored in all a total of 9146 won the bye election as the APC’s candidate came second with 8786 votes in both the general and bye election.
