Adamawa businessman Haske, Sayyida Khadija center donate food items to NCoS

In their determination to bring succor to the inmates of Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) during the upcoming Ramadan fast, a renowned businessman and philanthropist, Abdullahi Haske and Khadija Centre for Education and Empowerment have on Friday donated assorted food items for the benefit of the three correctional facilities in Yola, Adamawa State capital.

The benefitting correctional facilities are; Yolde Pate correctional center, Jimeta correctional center and Yola correctional center.

Abdullahi Haske who is the CEO of H & W farms donated three bags of jumbo size bags of rice containing 140 Mudus each, two bags of beans, two Jerricans of oil, one carton of Maggi, three cartons of Tomapep, and thirty Mudus of Dabino (Dates).

Similarly, Sayyida Khadija Centre for Education and Empowerment donated one 50 kg bag of rice, half bag of beans, a Jerrican of oil, and a carton of Maggi cubes.

Handing over the items to Adamawa State comptroller of NCoS, representatives of Abdullahi Haske and Sayyida Khadija Center for Education and Empowerment, Barr Bamanga Haske, and Barr. Fatima Raji respectively said the donations were meant to bring succor to the inmates during the Ramadan period.

Responding to the gesture, the Comptoller, Nigerian Correctional Service Adamawa State, Ahmad Abdul Usman
thanked the donors for their goodwill and sacrifices.

He pledged to ensure equitable and judicious distribution of the items across the three main correctional facilities in the state capital.

Usman further called on other well meaning individuals to follow suit by extending similar gesture for the benefit of the inmates. He also urged individuals to support payment of small fines of defendants to boost decongestion of the centres.

The comptroller stated that, with the high influx of inmates coupled with the harsh weather, decongestion has become pertinent to avoid outbreak of communicable diseases at the centres.

He also appealed to the Judiciary to also explore the non custodial sentencing to further decongest the centres and reform the defendants.
