WRAPA trains members, volunteers on women right promotion, protection

A Non-governmental Organization under the auspices of Women’s Rights Advancement and Protection Alternative, WRAPA, has organized training for its volunteers and members, on tackling the alarming rate of violence against women and girls in the society.

The session which held at Food Mart, Neighborhood Mall Yola, was tagged “Step Down Training on Volunteer Group’s Knowledge and Skills Strengthening for Increased Violence against Women and Girls, Prevention and Response”.

Adamawa state coordinator, WRAPA, Barrister Fatima Raji Bello who took participants through various sessions charged them to be committed to the course of women and girls who, according to her, are the most vulnerable.

She explained that the organization, with presence in the 36 states of the federation, was formed to ensure promotion of the rights of women through advocacies and campaigns to relevant government and other agencies with a view to engendering the course of women in the scheme of things.

Barrister Bello dwelled on Gender Based Violence, GBV, Information Management Intake, Release of Information, Survivor Complaint Form Referrals and Survivor Feedback among others areas.

Women’s Rights Advancement and Protection Alternative, WRAPA is a registered non-governmental, non-political, non-profit charitable membership organization founded in 1999 by the former Nigerian Firt Lady, Justice Fati Lami Abdulsalam, being her pet project.

Its activities include free or cost subsidized legal aid and counseling services for women, mobilization and sensitization, skills training and advocacy for legal reforms.

Similarly, in pursuance of its vision for enhancing access to justice for women, WRAPA supports litigation for women within the three legal systems in Nigeria.
