Family Planning Gains Momentum in Girei Community of Adamawa

The family planning campaign in Girei Local Government Area (LGA) in Adamawa State has recorded significant success, with increasing numbers embracing the initiative.
A recent investigation revealed that the campaign is gaining momentum, despite some challenges.

The campaign aims to control unwanted procreation among couples and single parents, ultimately determining an ideal population size for national growth and development.
In Vunoklang, a community of Girei LGA, the number of enrollees has risen from 100 to over 300 monthly, according to Mrs. Christiana Ayuba, Head of Unit, Family Planning.
“This surge in enrollment indicates a shift in attitudes toward family planning in Girei.”
‘Previously, individuals accessed family planning services secretly; now, they openly patronize health facilities.”
“Adolescents and couples are embracing the campaign, with some visiting facilities together for counseling,” said Ayuba.
Personal stories of benefitting from family planning, like those shared by Kyauta Luka and Mrs. Abigail John, encourage others to follow suit.
However, Doris Hananiya, Manager of Vunoklang Health Facility, highlighted a shortage of essential commodities, Norister and Jeddenel.
Hananiya applauded The Challenge Initiative (TCI) and media partners for their cooperation and support, saying that she is optimistic about sustained progress in family planning adoption.
