Factional crisis tears APC in Ganye as prospect of losing by-election looms
A deepening crisis of confidence between two sprinter groups in All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ganye chiefdom is threatening the victory of the party in the forthcoming Ganye constituency by-election, this paper can report.
The party is currently divided between the Sen Abubakar MoAllahyidi led group and another one led by Walin Ganye, Alh. Sadiq Wali.

The lingering crisis has led the two rival factions to hold parallel consultative stakeholders meeting simultaneously in Ganye local government on Sunday further accentuating the deep fissures within the party.
While the splinter group led by MoAllahyidi under the aegis of the G-20, a group of 20 stakeholders drawn from the four local governments of Ganye chiefdom held its meeting at Poskum hall in Ganye metropolis, the one led by Sadiq Wali, took place at the personal residence of Wali Ganye.
The meeting convened by the G-20 was attended by many stakeholders including immediate past house of representative member representing the constituency in the house of representatives, Abdulrazak Namdas, Alh. Uba Dan Arewa, current and past party excos as well as former local government chairmen amongst others.
The one led by Walin Ganye was similarly attended by Alh. Mansur Toungo, Mohammad Mayas, Alh Umaru Hammajoda Farang, Hon Alh Bashir Usman Boro as well as party excos from the four local governments that constitute Ganye chiefdom.
This paper learnt that the meeting convened by Wali dwells on putting in place robust strategies of winning the forthcoming Ganye constituency by-election which was occupied by the APC before the death of the lawmaker representing the constituency, Abdulmalik Jauro Musa.
Musa died on 24 May 2024. Before his sad event, he was the deputy minority whip of the assembly making the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to schedule a by-election in August this year.
But with the current divisions in the party, stakeholders said winning the seat which hitherto belonged to APC will be an uphill task, unless the fracas is resolved.
They noted that the situation portends grave consequences on the party which may cost it the opportunity of winning the forthcoming Ganye constituency by-election as well as the 2027 general election.
This paper learnt that the meeting convened by the Sadiq Wali faction was deliberately contrived to sabotage the move by the G-20 to reconcile aggrieved party faithfuls so that the party could go into the election as a strong contender.
This position was re-echoed by many stakeholders who attended the MoAllahyidi led consultation.
Expressing reservations over the egregious attitude, a stakeholder, Eng. Nuruddeen Nyako noted that some people who are not happy with their efforts to bring unity and cohesion in the party were behind the unpatriotic move to subvert the meeting for their whimsical and selfish goals.
Also speaking, a close ally of National Security Adviser (NSA), Uba Dan Arewa urged the people to disregard any information to the effect that the NSA has ordered the expulsion of any exco.
He noted that such people do not mean well for the NSA adding that the greater goals of the NSA is to bring unity, cohesion and cooperation in the party in order to boost its chances in all elections.
While expressing happiness with the move of the G-20 to foster unity, Dan Arewa also expressed optimism with the caliber of people in the group due to their immense political value and winning potentials.
“Ignore self styled people who are dropping Ribadu’s name claiming that he ordered the expulsion of executives of the party. Mallam is a just man and will never perpetrate any act of injustice against anybody. So ignore all those using his name to hoist impunity,” he said.
Also speaking, Sen. MoAllahyidi and Namdas noted that the purpose of the meeting is to foster unity, brotherhood and cooperation which are the ingredients needed to ensure the victory of the party during the by-election.
They noted that Ganye chiefdom has benefitted from a number of federal government projects including the construction of Mayo Belwa- Toungo highway, which unfortunately was stopped since they left the national assembly as well as sponsoring bills and bringing interventions that brought tremendous value to the lives of the residents.
Namdas particularly urged the people to ignore subversive elements who only thrive when the party is going through crisis urging them to always remain with politicians with established reputation and record of electric victories.
