We didn’t celebrate Buhari’s death, Adamawa shi’te faction leader says
A leader of a faction of Shi’te sect in Adamawa, Mallam Gidado Mohammed has disclosed that his faction did not celebrate the death of former president Muhammadu Buhari.
Mohammed who is the chairman of Adamawa State voters of the sect, decried a situation in which Nigerians conflate the views and actions of Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky’s led faction as the view of the Shi’te community in general as gross injustice.

He noted that his group which is operating under the crest of Rasul A’azam foundation has recognized national leaders like Sheik Nur, Shiek Saleh and Sheik Bashir.
”We belong to Shi’te sect but unlike the El-Zakzaky’s faction, we are law abiding. We respect authorities, we respect Nigerian leaders, we partake in electoral processes, we vote leaders during elections and we are loyal to the Nigerian state and its constitution,” he said.
Mohammed said as a law abiding group, their organization is registered with the corporate affairs commission and have recognized leadership from local government to national level adding that tthey have established schools, mosques and other notable institutions in compliance with the extant constitutional provisions of Nigeria.
”We are operating in compliance with the laws of Nigeria and we remained completely subservient to the constitution of the country. When former president Muhammadu Buhari died, Nigerians were indicting the Shi’te as the group celebrating his death.
”That is a gross misrepresentation and injustice of the highest order. As religious people, we accepted the death of Buhari as a divine fate and have prayed for the repose of his soul. We even intended as a group to pay condolence visit to his family to commiserate with them over the loss of beloved one,” Mohammed said.
