Adamawa govt distributes relief package to 4000 households ravaged by flood
Adamawa State government has today distributed relief items to no fewer than 4,000 households afflicted by the recent devastating flood that ravaged seven communities in Yola South local government area of Adamawa State.
Items distributed include; 25kg of maize, 25kg of rice, sugar, cooking oil, one carton of spaghetti, clothing material, mat and maggi cubes.

Speaking during the distribution exercise at Aliyu Mustapha college in Yola, Adamawa State deputy governor Prof Kaletapwa Farauta said the items distributed were brought by the federal government, the first lady, National Emergency Management Agency, the state government as well as other organizations and well meaning Nigerians.
She urged the beneficiaries not to sell the items as it was meant to bring immediate succor to their families.
Farauta urged beneficiaries to wait patiently as the items provided will go round as distribution of the items is going on simultaneously across four locations in the local government.
Also speaking Ladan Ayuba, NEMA head of operations in Yola noted that his organization has enjoyed seamless working relationship with other sister organizations in the course of taking census of the victims.
He added that data available at their disposal indicated that about 15,000 people were affected comprising of 4,000 families who have been captured and will benefit from the distribution today.
Ayuba added that the death toll in the incident still remain 29 persons while 11 others are missing.
Responding, some of the beneficiaries thanked the state government for the items promising to use it to alleviate the sufferings of the family.
A beneficiary, Blessing Amago said the package will provide food on the table for her family urging the government and other well to do individuals to also consider assisting them with resources to build their broken houses and businesses.
