A fitting recognition to a befitting son, Sen. Girei rejoices with Ribadu over Sardauna title
Sen. Abubakar Halilu Girei has expressed profound joy over the investiture of the revered traditional title of Sardauna Adamawa on Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Nigeria’s National Security Adviser (NSA), calling it a fitting recognition to a befitting son.
In a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen, the renowned politician thanked the Adamawa emirate council under the tutelage of HRH Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha for recognizing a distinguished son.

“I join millions of the good people of Adamawa State and indeed the entire nation in celebrating the historic conferment of the revered traditional title of Sardauna Adamawa on my brother, friend, and compatriot, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, by the esteemed Adamawa Emirate Council under the leadership of His Royal Highness, the Lamido of Adamawa Alhaji Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha.
“This singular act is both fitting and timely, for it recognizes not only the personal qualities of courage, loyalty, and patriotism that define Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, but also the enduring significance of the Sardauna title in our history,” he said.
Extolling the rare qualities of the recipient of the title, Girei noted that “Mallam Nuhu Ribadu has, without question, lived a life consistent with the noble legacy for which he was recognized.
“As the pioneer Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), he etched his name in the annals of Nigerian history as a fearless fighter against corruption. At a time when impunity threatened to overwhelm the nation, Ribadu stood tall, wielding the instruments of justice with uncommon courage and integrity.
“His stewardship at the EFCC rekindled hope in the ability of institutions to serve the people and protect the moral fabric of our society.
“Today, in his capacity as National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu continues to demonstrate the same valour, wisdom, and patriotism. He has brought to bear his long years of public service and his unshakable resolve to confront the challenges of insecurity bedeviling our country.
“With clarity of vision and firmness of character, he has emerged as a unifying figure and a custodian of national stability. His current service is, without doubt, a continuation of his lifelong devotion to Nigeria – a devotion that has been tested and proven in the crucible of adversity.”
He noted that the conferment of Sardauna Adamawa on Mallam Nuhu Ribadu is not only a personal honour to him and his family, but a profound statement by the Adamawa Emirate Council.
“I salute the wisdom and foresight of the Adamawa Emirate Council in bestowing this exalted title on Mallam Nuhu Ribadu. By so doing, they have aligned tradition with contemporary reality, and have sent a powerful message that courage, integrity, and patriotism remain the highest virtues of leadership.
“On behalf of my family and associates, I congratulate Sardauna Adamawa, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu. May Allah grant him the strength, wisdom, and longevity to discharge the responsibilities of this revered title, to the glory of Adamawa Emirate, the service of Nigeria, and the honour of posterity,” he added.
