Food security: Sen Yaroe distributes assorted food items to constituents
•As NEMA extends olive branch to flood victims
Constituents of Adamawa Southern Senatorial District have another cause to smile as Senator representing the Zone, Senator (Rev) Binos Dauda Yaroe, distributed no fewer than nine hundred and forty-five (945) bags of assorted food stuff to better their livelihoods.
Each of the nine (9) Local Government Areas (LGAs) that constituted Adamawa Southern Senatorial District got fifty-five (55) bags of maize and fifty (50) bags of rice, with four hundred and ninety-five (495) bags of maize and four hundred and forty-five (450) bags of rice, making the total of nine hundred and forty-five (945) bags.

Addressing the LG representatives shortly before the commencement of the distribution exercise, Senator Binos Yaroe said that he decided to embark on the distribution seeing that it was a period of need.
According to the People’s Senator, the bags of grains were procured from his personal pockets, noting that he would do everything humanly possible to meet the needs of his constituents.
In his words, “One of the reasons why I decided to distribute these bags of grains is because NEMA brought some food and non-food items to be distributed to flood victims across five communities in Adamawa Southern Senatorial District.
“While flood victims benefitted from the relief materials being provided by NEMA, I thought it was right for others too to have some items because almost all households across the 9 LGAs were affected by the natural disaster. Hence, the need for my contribution”.
Speaking with journalists shortly after collecting one hundred and five (105) bags of grains for onward distribution, the representative of Demsa Local Government Area (LGA), Hon. (Mrs) Marilyn Danbabayi, described Senator Binos as a politician who has the interest of his constituents at heart, noting that the bags of grains would go a long way in enhancing and livelihoods of the masses across the 9 LGAs.
She pointed out that the most vulnerable in the society would be the targeted beneficiaries as instructed by the Senator, adding that effective mechanisms have been put in place for transparency in the distribution process.
Mr. Abubakar Usman, representative of Jada Local Government Area (LGA), said that this was the 5th time that Senator Binos was reaching out to his constituents with the provision of food and non-food items for the benefit of the people of Adamawa South this year alone.
He said that during the distribution, they would ensure those who benefited from the previous distributions would not benefit from this one. This is done to ensure the packages go round, targeting the most vulnerable in the area.
Similarly, flood victims across Vulpi, Bolki and Salti in Numan LGA, and Mararaba Labbare and Sebore Teneke in Mayo-Belwa LGA of Adamawa State have benefited from relief materials being provided by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to cushion their hardships due to the natural disaster.
The distribution, which was facilitated by the Senator representing Adamawa Southern Senatorial District, Senator (Rev) Binos Dauda Yaroe, was part of the efforts by the Agency to reach out to victims of recent floodings.
Distributing and facilitating the movement of the items to the beneficiaries across the benefitting communities in Numan and Mayo-Belwa LGAs, Senator Binos said that the provision of the relief packages by NEMA was borne out of the reports being submitted to the Agency and its assessment in collaboration with the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA).
The Senator said that the provision of the relief materials by NEMA had stimulated him to carry out distribution of 945 bags of grains to his constituents, noting that he wanted his constituents to have a sense of belonging.
Speaking with pressmen, an official from NEMA Operations Office Yola, Mr. Abdulkadiri Mahmud, said that the Agency saw the need to reach out to the victims of natural disaster in order to help their livelihoods.
He commended Senator Binos Yaroe for his commitment and determination to enhancing the wellbeing and welfare of his constituents, especially for contributing with the distribution of bags of grains to uplift the livelihoods of the masses.
A cross section of benefitting flood victims, who spoke with journalists shortly after receiving the relief materials, thanked NEMA and Senator Binos for reaching out to them in this critical time of their lives.
Daniel Makwada and Alex Amakildo, representatives of Salti and Bolki communities respectively, expressed gratitude to the Agency and the Adamawa South Senator for their kind gestures, praying God Almighty to grant them the desires of their hearts.
Some of the food items being provided by NEMA include; bags of maize, bags of rice, cartons of spaghetti, cartons of vegetable oil among others.
