Madagali, Shelleng emerge Adamawa PDP Chair, Sec as party elect new leaders
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State on Saturday elected Alhaji Hamza Madagali as its new chairman, while Saleh Shelleng emerged as the secretary of the party following a state congress held in Yola, Adamawa State capital.
Madagali, and other elected officials will steer the affairs of the party for the next four years. Their emergence was the highlight of the keenly watched congress, which party leaders hailed as peaceful, transparent, and credible.

The Chairman of the Adamawa PDP Congress Committee, Mr. David Iorhemba, who supervised the process, commended delegates for their orderly conduct throughout the exercise.
According to him, a total of 2,656 delegates drawn from the 21 local government areas of the state participated and elected 39 officials into various positions.
“The congress was very successful,” Iorhemba declared. “Delegates cast their votes peacefully, and the results were announced without rancor. It is a testimony to our party’s commitment to internal democracy.”
Outgoing state chairman, Mr. Attahiru Shehu, used the occasion to congratulate the newly elected executives, urging them to build on the achievements of the outgoing leadership. He stressed the need for unity and discipline within the party as it prepares for upcoming political contests.
In his acceptance speech, Madagali expressed gratitude to the delegates for entrusting him with the leadership of the party. He pledged to operate an open-door policy that will strengthen inclusiveness and foster greater unity among party members.
“Let us continue the legacy of good governance and prepare ahead for 2027 with focus, discipline, and unity,” he said. “To those outside our party, especially the youths and women of Adamawa, I extend a hand of fellowship. PDP is your home. Our doors are open to all who wish to contribute positively to the development of our state.”
Madagali emphasized that under his leadership, the PDP in Adamawa would remain a beacon of people-oriented leadership and a platform that prioritizes the welfare of citizens. He assured members that the new executive will work tirelessly to consolidate the party’s grassroots support and readiness for future elections.
With the successful conduct of the congress, the PDP in Adamawa State has once again demonstrated its capacity for internal cohesion and democratic renewal, as it sets its sights on reclaiming power and deepening its relevance ahead of the 2027 polls.
