Adamawa APC elders unveil 12-point strategy to ensure total victory in 2027
The Adamawa Progressive Elders Council (APEC), a new advisory body within the All Progressives Congress (APC), has outlined a comprehensive plan at unifying the party, resolving internal disputes, and ensuring sweeping victories across all elective positions in the 2027 general elections.
The council’s spokesman, Ahmed Sajoh, disclosed this at a press conference held in Yola, where he emphasized the crucial role of harmony, cohesion and discipline within the APC ahead of the next election cycle.

Sajoh explained that the establishment of the council followed consultations led by senior APC figures at the national level.
He noted that the council has the blessing of the leader of the party in the state urging the public to disregard rumours indicating that the formation of the council was done with ulterior motives.
He noted that on November 6, a leader of the party convened a select meeting in Abuja to discuss the formation of an elders’ platform that would serve as a stabilizing force for the party in Adamawa State.
According to him, the forum, now formally named the Adamawa Progressive Elders Council, draws membership from former governors, formers senators, serving and former ministers, veteran party leaders and respected community elders across the 21 local government areas of the state.
”The formation of the council is the brain child of the leader of the party in the state. According to the vice chairman of the council, Senator Abubakar Halilu Girei who briefed members during the inaugural meeting on Saturday 15 Nov, the formation of the council was in fulfillment of the recommendations of the APC reconciliation committee which was headed by late Sen. Muhammad Mana.
”According to Girei, the idea behind the establishment of the Adamawa Progressive Elders Council stems from the report of the Adamawa State APC reconciliation committee which made far reaching recommendations including the establishment of the elders forum,” Sajoh said.
He noted that the new council was created in line with the provisions of the APC constitution, specifically Article 13.8(vi), which empowers the State Working Committee to set up committees that promote the party’s interests, and Article 7(i), which identifies unity, political stability and national consciousness as core objectives of the party stressing that
these constitutional mandates form the legal backbone of the council’s operations.
Providing context for the initiative, Sajoh recalled the APC’s experiences in the 2019 and 2023 election cycles, describing them as periods of internal disarray.
He said that the absence of a strong conflict-resolution mechanism led to fragmentation after primary elections, ultimately costing the party the governorship and other strategic positions.
“We broke away and fought ourselves,” he lamented, adding that party elders were determined to prevent a repetition of such setbacks in 2027.
The spokesman said the council held its inaugural state-level meeting on November 15, during which Senator Abubakar Halilu Girei, the council’s vice chairman, briefed party elders on the rationale behind its creation.
The secretary of the council, Hon. Bema Olvadi-Madai, alongside the assistant secretary, Barr. Umar Baba who also served as secretary of the APC Reconciliation Committee pledged to run an efficient and accountable secretariat.
Sajoh declared that the council has adopted a 12-point resolution aimed at securing overwhelming victory for the APC at all levels, beginning from councillorship up to the presidential election.
He emphasized that members were united in their commitment to deliver President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with the highest lawful votes in Adamawa State in 2027, regardless of the opposition candidate, even if such a candidate emerged from the state.
The resolutions, he said, include commitments to ensure unity, peace and progress within the party; produce credible candidates through transparent processes; guarantee free and fair congresses; and promptly resolve disputes arising from primaries. The council also pledged to build effective grassroots campaign structures capable of strengthening the party’s electoral outreach.
Another key resolution is the development of a fair reward system, a longstanding complaint within the APC. Sajoh noted that several members have recently been appointed to federal positions, including the council’s secretary, who was recently cleared by the Senate for a federal appointment. The elders also vowed to support party organs at the ward and local government levels both financially and materially.
He disclosed that the council agreed that any member intending to contest an election must immediately step down from the council to preserve neutrality. This, Sajoh explained, is vital to ensure fairness, especially during the management of disputes.
He further stressed the need for confidentiality, saying members are expected to conduct themselves responsibly and refrain from disclosing internal deliberations except when required for official duties.
Sajoh affirmed that the council stands firmly loyal to the APC leadership at the state and national levels and will undertake any lawful task assigned to it to strengthen the party.
He said with unity, discipline and collective commitment, the APC in Adamawa is poised to reclaim its dominance and secure comprehensive victories in the 2027 polls.
