HRM Nyako, grants scholarship to best graduating student of GSS Hong
The Paramount Ruler of Hoba Chiefdom, His Royal Majesty, Barr. Dr. Alheri Bulus Nyako has granted a full university scholarship to Ketura Kefas, the overall best graduating student of Government Secondary School Hong.
Ketura Kefas also emerged as the best graduating student in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics.

HRM, Dr. Nyako disclosed the award of the scholarship during speech and prize giving day organised by HOSA GENERAL, Class of 86 held on 25th November 2025 at the School.
Represented by the District Head of Hong, Alh. Umar Mahmud, Kjadimul Qura’n, the Paramount Ruler commended the Class of ‘86 for their initiative and called on other HOSA generations to emulate them to develop their alma mater.
The paramount Ruler called on other students to read hard to enable them graduate with flying colours, emphasizing that the prizes presented to deserving members of staff and students will go a long way in boosting their morales.
In his speech, the representative of Class of 86, Mal. Ibrahim Abdu while making the presentation to the students that excelled and recognition of staff noted that presentation of prizes will ignite a new generation of excellence.
He called on the school authority to reintroduce the annual speech and prize giving day as a move to create learning competition among students.
Mal. Abdu underscored the importance of speech and prize giving day in a school setting, emphasized that the school was known to be organizing such event for several decades but discontinued due to some factors and called for its revitalization.
“The ceremony acknowledges the hard work of award winners, uplift them and inspire them to continue their good effort and in addition helps build a culture of pride, perseverance and purpose and thereby creating an environment where learning is valued and success is shared,” Abdu said.
According to him, the presentation of prizes to students was introduced in 2024 and recognition of staff was incorporated this year to motivate them to put more effort in impacting knowledge to students.
In his remarks, the Principal of the school, Yerima Emmanuel acknowledged the contributions made to the school by HOSA Class of 86, which he noted has rekindle the glory of the school and urged other classes of Old students to contribute their own quota too.
In his closing remarks, the Vice President of HOSA GENERAL, M.H Kussiy reminded the students on the need to pursue their academic career with seriousness and also called on other classes of HOSA to emulate the good gesture of class of 86.
Ketura Kefas emerged the overall best graduating student, while Nana Khadija Musa emerged the overall best SS 2 Student in English, Mathematics, Chemistry , Biology and Physics.
The prizes for the best academic staff in Science, English and Mathematics went to Nachana’a Isa’ac , Narkisus Jedison and Saidu Musa respectively while Mr Adamu Ading collected prize for emerging the most hard working security guard.
