Adamawa youths carpet ‘Abuja politicians’, back Fintiri’s anticipated move to APC
A coalition of Concerned Adamawa Youth led by Comrade Gnashi H. Kadams, has called the bluff of Abuja based politicians allegedly behind plot to scuttle Fintiri’s highly anticipated move to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The youth also expressed support for Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri noting that his proposed move to align with the ruling party will serve the larger interest of Adamawa people.

The call came amid growing speculation about the possible defection of governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Addressing newsmen on Thursday in Yola, Kadams said the group deemed it necessary to respond calmly and objectively to reactions trailing reports of the governor’s potential political realignment.
He described the development as a matter that should be considered in the broader interest of Adamawa State, particularly its youthful population.
“Politics should never be reduced to personal ownership or territorial control,” Kadams stated.
He criticized what he called attempts by some Abuja-based politicians to frame the issue around personal interests rather than the welfare of the state.
He also dismissed recent social media comments by Alhaji Abdurrahman Buba Kwacham, accusing him of raising false alarms and lacking electoral credibility in the state.
According to the youth leader, any political decision undertaken by Governor Fintiri would be guided by the overriding objective of promoting development, stability and prosperity in Adamawa, as well as strengthening collaboration with the Federal Government ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Kadams noted that if the governor’s move is motivated by the desire to attract greater federal support, improve access to national resources, enhance security coordination and accelerate infrastructure and youth development, it should be viewed positively.
He highlighted what he described as visible achievements of the Fintiri administration in infrastructure renewal, educational reforms, civil service restructuring and youth engagement initiatives.
The group emphasised the need for internal democracy and due process but cautioned against resistance rooted in fear of change or loss of political influence.
“Political evolution is part of democracy, and decisions should be evaluated based on their long-term benefits to citizens,” Kadams said.
With the 2027 elections approaching, the youth coalition called for political maturity, inclusive dialogue and leadership capable of uniting rather than dividing the state.
They stressed that youth empowerment, job creation, security, infrastructure expansion and economic growth must remain central to any political alignment.
“Our loyalty is to the development of Adamawa State,” Kadams declared, urging leaders to avoid inflammatory statements and instead rally behind efforts aimed at sustaining peace, progress and purposeful governance in the state.
