Bauchi senator inaugurates islamic centre, donates N20m for health college project

The Senator representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, Shehu Buba Umar, has inaugurated the Imam Shu’aibu Yisin Council of Ulamah Islamic Centre in Bununu, Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area, aimed at strengthening unity among Muslims and promoting community development.
Speaking during the inauguration at the weekend, the senator said the centre was established to provide a platform for Islamic scholars and followers from various groups to interact, promote understanding and foster cooperation within the Muslim community.

According to him, the facility will enable scholars to deliberate on issues affecting society and offer guidance in line with Islamic teachings, while encouraging peace, mutual respect and social harmony.
Buba said the centre includes units that will address matters such as inheritance, reconciliation and other community-related concerns, noting that the initiative was conceived following requests by Islamic scholars seeking a central meeting point to enhance unity among Muslims.
He reaffirmed his commitment to effective representation since assuming office, highlighting programmes focused on women and youth empowerment, job creation, healthcare support and agricultural development across the seven local government areas of Bauchi South.
Chairman of the building committee, Hon. Aminu Tukur, commended the senator for funding the project from start to completion. He said the centre comprises 12 offices, a conference hall, a nine-room guest house, a store and a shopping complex with six shops, costing about N200 million.
The senator also donated N20 million towards constructing the permanent site of the College of Health Sciences and Technology in Bununu.
