The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nexus Edge Solutions, Abdulaziz Sani, has reaffirmed the company’s commitment to nurture a new generation of skilled entrepreneurs and young millionaires through its renewable energy and technical skills development programme in Adamawa State.
Sani said the initiative was designed not merely to train young people in solar technology, but to equip them with the practical knowledge, tools and entrepreneurial capacity required to establish sustainable businesses and provide professional solutions to the growing demand for clean and affordable energy.

He spoke while reviewing the progress of the company’s intensive solar technology training programme for 100 young beneficiaries drawn from the 21 local government areas of Adamawa State.
According to him, the programme represents a deliberate investment in human capital, with the ultimate objective of creating a pool of highly skilled indigenous solar technicians and entrepreneurs capable of meeting the state’s increasing energy needs while creating employment for others.
Sani said he was optimistic that many of the beneficiaries would graduate from the programme as business owners, adding that the company was determined to give them the foundation required to build successful careers in the renewable energy sector.
“If we have succeeded in establishing a home-grown company with a reputation in importation, logistics, building materials and solar solutions, there is no reason why the beneficiaries of this training should be left behind.
“Our ambition is to see these young people become reputable entrepreneurs and, eventually, millionaires who will employ others and contribute meaningfully to the economy of Adamawa State and Nigeria at large,” he said.
Beyond the four-month intensive training, Sani disclosed that the beneficiaries would be equipped with toolboxes, protective jackets and other construction equipment to enable them to commence professional practice after graduation.
He said the company had already procured about 200 specialised toolboxes, each valued at approximately N250,000, while the first phase of the training programme was expected to cost the company about N75 million.
The Nexus Edge boss explained that the training would be conducted in two major areas: solar and electrical installations for residential and commercial buildings, as well as comprehensive training covering various aspects of solar technology.
He said the initiative would eventually be expanded to accommodate thousands of young people, women and other vulnerable groups as part of the company’s broader commitment to poverty reduction and economic empowerment.
According to him, the first batch of trainees was deliberately selected from across the 21 local government areas of Adamawa State to ensure equitable access to the opportunity.
He said the company had also invested in modern training equipment to provide participants with practical exposure and ensure that they were adequately prepared for the demands of the industry.
Sani expressed satisfaction with the level of commitment demonstrated by the trainees, noting that about 80 per cent were already showing significant progress.
However, he stressed that certification would not be based merely on attendance, insisting that beneficiaries must demonstrate competence before being allowed to graduate.
He explained that solar installation was a highly technical field in which mistakes could have serious consequences, including electrical faults and fire outbreaks.
“In the art of solar technology, there is no room for error. You have to be perfect. Safety is paramount because a poorly installed system can result in serious hazards, including fire outbreaks.
“Only those who demonstrate the required level of competence will be certified to graduate. We want to produce professionals, not just people who have attended a training programme,” he said.
The Managing Director also expressed appreciation to the management of Modibbo Adama University, Yola, for providing space and guildlines for the training programme.
He particularly acknowledged the university for making some of its lecturers available to support the training and for providing technical guidance that contributed to the smooth implementation of the programme.
Solar skills a ‘gold mine’
One of the instructors, Abdulladir Jika, described the initiative as a significant investment in the future of the beneficiaries, saying the skills being acquired could provide them with sustainable livelihoods.
Jika said renewable energy has become one of the fastest-growing sectors globally, adding that the increasing demand for alternative power solutions had created enormous opportunities for trained technicians and entrepreneurs.
He encouraged the beneficiaries to take the programme seriously, describing the opportunity as potentially life-changing.
According to him, the training covers the entire spectrum of solar installation, from electrical wiring and system design to safety procedures, costing and installation for homes and commercial establishments.
“They are not being trained in just one aspect of solar technology. We are giving them holistic knowledge—from wiring and safety measures to costing and actual installation.
“With the skills they acquire here, they will be able to undertake solar projects for individuals and businesses and, more importantly, build enterprises around the knowledge,” he said.
Jika commended Nexus Edge Solutions for providing modern training facilities and investing significant resources in youth development.
He urged the beneficiaries to maximise the opportunity, stressing that access to such comprehensive and practical training was not an opportunity that came every day.
Beneficiaries optimistic
Two of the beneficiaries, Aliyu Abubakar and Mohammed Tukur Aliyu, expressed appreciation to Nexus Edge Solutions for giving them an opportunity they described as a potential turning point in their lives.
They said the training has exposed them to practical knowledge that could enable them to become self-reliant and eventually establish businesses of their own.
The beneficiaries expressed optimism that, upon completion of the programme, they would not only secure sustainable livelihoods but also become employers of labour and contribute to the development of their communities.
