2027: LP poised for sweeping victory, massive upset in Adamawa — Theman Jonah
•Says those posting fake transaction receipts between him and SIA ignorant of party financial regulations

The Adamawa State Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Hon. Theman Jonah, has expressed confidence that the party is strategically positioned to secure a comprehensive victory in the 2027 general elections.
Jonah, who spoke with journalists in Yola on Thursday, described the LP as one of the most organised and grassroots-oriented political parties in the state, boasting a formidable network and strong appeal across the 21 local government areas.

He said the party had maintained stout resilience, unity and strong mutual bond at a time when several political parties were grappling with internal crises, factional disputes and defections.
“While other political parties are going through numerous crises, Adamawa Labour Party is enjoying unprecedented peace, conviviality and unity.
“At a time when some political parties have several factions while others are witnessing massive defections, LP, from remains the only party without any crisis and poised to go into the election with vigour, vitality and massive grassroots appeal.
“We have no doubt that our party will win the election with a landslide,” Jonah said.
Reacting to reports of a recent disagreement within the party, Jonah dismissed the development as a minor misunderstanding which, according to him, had already been resolved.
He assured that the party leadership and its candidates were now united and committed to secure victory across the various elective positions.
“There is no way you will not have some misunderstanding in a party as big as LP, which has a governorship candidate, three senatorial candidates, eight House of Representatives candidates and 25 House of Assembly candidates.
“But I can assure you that, as one big family, we have resolved all the issues and are moving into the election as one big, indivisible family,” he said.
On the party’s preparedness to finance its campaign and deploy agents across the state’s 226 political wards, Jonah said the LP and its candidates possessed the financial capacity to prosecute an extensive campaign drive.
“Our party and its candidates have the financial strength to sustain all campaign activities and provide the logistics required for the success of our campaign drive.
“We are 100 per cent ready and will hit the ground running,” he said.
Commenting on viral online receipts allegedly showing that the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Ishaku Abbo, transferred N100 million to him personally, Jonah described the documents as fictitious.
He said those circulating the receipts were unfamiliar with the financial procedures governing political parties, insisting that the N100 million was indeed received but paid into the party’s official account.
“Those spreading such receipts are ignorant of the official workings of political parties. That is why they ignorantly generated fake receipts showing a N100 million transaction between me and the governorship candidate.
“Some posted GTBank receipts, some OPay receipts and all sorts of receipts. The truth is that he sent the N100 million, but through the official party account, and we have received it and will use it for the purpose intended,” Jonah said.
He reiterated that the party was fully prepared for the 2027 contest, citing its political goodwill, grassroots appeal, financial capacity and manpower as key resources for the campaign.
“Our party is good to go. We have the goodwill, appeal, financial strength and manpower to campaign and win all the elections,” he added.
On concerns that the LP could be rigged during the election, Jonah argued that a political party with a strong grassroots following would be difficult to manipulate at the polls.
According to him, only parties without substantial support base among voters could easily be rigged out of an election.
He cited the recently concluded election in Osun State, where he said a relatively small political party emerged victorious, as evidence that political power ultimately rests with voters.
Jonah maintained that the LP was determined to replicate such a political upset in Adamawa in 2027, arguing that voters, rather than political merchants or incumbents, should determine who wins elective offices.
He said the party would therefore approach the 2027 elections with confidence and a determination to give Adamawa voters the opportunity to freely choose their preferred candidates.
