Ibrahim Kado emerges as new chairman of Adamawa correspondents’ chapel
A new leadership led by Comrade Ibrahim Kado has emerged following the election of the new executives of Adamawa State correspondents’ chapel which took place on Wednesday March 19, 2025.
Ibrahim Kado, a correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), and six others emerged unopposed during the election, presided by Daji Sani led caretaker committee.
Golfa Francis emerged as the vice chairman of the chapel just as Anselm Nuhu Kyauta emerged as secretary of the chapel.
Talatu Maiwada, was elected as the Financial Secretary, Onimisi Alao emerged as the assistant financial secretary, Ibrahim Abubakar emerged as the new treasurer of the chapel while Joseph Adhanu was elected as the Auditor.
Following the election, the newly elected officials were immediately sworn in by NUJ officials, led by the state chairman, Mr. Ishaka Dedan. The inauguration ceremony marked the beginning of a new leadership era for the Correspondents’ Chapel in Adamawa State.
In his inaugural speech, the newly elected Chairman, Ibrahim Kado expressed deep gratitude for the confidence reposed in him by his colleagues. He pledged to lead with transparency and inclusivity, emphasizing that his administration would prioritize unity and professional development among journalists in the state.
“I will ensure that every member is carried along and given an equal opportunity to contribute to the progress of this chapel,” Kado assured.
He called on members to offer their support and collaboration, stressing that leadership is a shared responsibility that requires collective effort to achieve meaningful progress.
Speaking during the event, the chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ) Adamawa State council, Comrade Donald Dedan noted that the election witnessed rigorous screening of candidates noting that at the end of the day only those who met the constitutional requirements of NUJ are allowed to contest the election.
He noted that as a result of the top notch screening process, a number of candidates were screened out for not meeting constitutional requirements just as he urged the new exco to work assiduously to enhance professionalism and ethical conduct.
The election and inauguration of the new leaders have set the stage for renewed focus on professionalism, ethical journalism, and unity within the Correspondents’ Chapel. Journalists in Adamawa State anticipate improved engagement and advocacy under Kado’s leadership.
As the new executives settle into their roles, there is growing optimism that the chapel will experience stronger cooperation among its members, enhanced capacity-building initiatives, and a more vibrant press community in the state.
