Police kill one, arrest five suspected kidnappers, rescue 3 abductees in Adamawa

 

In its efforts to rid the state of violent crimes, the Adamawa State police command has neutralized one suspected kidnapper during a gun duel, arrested five others and rescue three abductees in two coordinated operations in Maiha and Gombi LGAs of the state.

During the operations, the command recovered two fabricated guns, GSM Handsets accessories, chains, padlocks and other tools used by the suspects to perpetrate their heinous crimes.

A statement by DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, the command’s spokesman said, the operations were conducted in conjunction with the military, sister security outfits and hunters.

“On the 19/12/2021 the Command’s operatives attached to Maiha division, following information from a reliable source revealed that some suspected kidnappers were sighted on Pakka hills situated in a remote side of Maiha local government.

” The Commissioner of police CP Mohammed Ahmed Barde, Psc (+), immediately deployed the Command’s operatives attached to Maiha Division in sustained collaboration with military, other sister security agencies and some hunters to the area,” he said.

Nguroje added that as a result of the operation, 37-year-old Muhammadu Umaru, 30-year-old Hamidu Idrisu and 42-year-old Haruna Musa, all residents of Maiha LG were arrested after sustained gun duel.

According to Nguroje, the joint operation led to the rescue of three abductees including 35-year-old woman, Hadiza Abubakar, 20-year-old Hamidu Musa and 18-year-old Buba Sale.

“The suspects during interrogation confessed to have kidnapped the victims from their various addresses and were negotiating for ransom,” Nguroje added.

The police spokesman added that in another operation, on the 16/12/2021 the command’s operatives attached to Gombi Division arrested two suspected inter state kidnappers from Zamfara State namely, Iliyasu Bako (26) and Rabiu Habu (25).

“The suspects all residents of Zurmi local government Area, Zamfara State freely confessed to have kidnapped one Babagida Alh Ruwa of Garfete village, Gombi local government.

“On the strength of that, the commissioner of Police, commended the Divisional police officers Maiha, Gombi and their men for making it difficult for such criminals escape arrest.

” The CP further called on members of the public to continue giving credible and timely information regarding any person of suspicious character around their neighborhood to police.

The police Boss further directs discreet investigation into the matter and assured that the suspects will be prosecuted accordingly,” Nguroje noted.
