Appointees of the immediate past governor of Adamawa State, Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla Bindow have conducted a high powered meeting with the resolve to secure the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial ticket for him ahead of the general election in the state.
The appointees including former commissioners, advisers, local government chairmen and others in their hundreds said they have put finishing touches to secure the party’s ticket for the former governor and ensure he defeats the incumbent governor in 2023 general election.
Speaking to our reporter on the sidelines of the meeting, today in Yola, leader of a youth think tank for Bindow, Sulaiman Yerima said they would leverage on the massive goodwill the ex-Governor commands to secure the party’s ticket for him.
“If election is about popularity, goodwill and track record of service, I think the party primaries is already a walk over as no one among the aspirants can stand shoulder to shoulder with Bindow.
“Apart from the massive goodwill he exudes as a result of his excellent performance while in office, senator Bindow is the only aspirant with massive grassroot appeal and well oiled political structure across the 226 wards of the state.
“We have already started mobilizing thousands of Bindow’s enthusiast to accomplish the task of getting the party’s ticket for him,” he said.
Yerima noted that it becomes expedient for APC to trust Bindow with the ticket because of the surfeit of advantages he has over the other aspirants as he is the only aspirant with 100 percent assurance of trouncing governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri come 2023 general election.
“Bindow has only four years to go, so it will be wise for the two other zones to concede to him for power to rotate easily.
“Apart from that, he was a former senator of the federal republic of Nigeria and a one time governor with a huge support and goodwill. We have now charted a course to ensure that we use our network, strong grassroot base to give him another chance at governance,” Yerima said.
