The Labour Party, (LP), governorship candidate in Adamawa state, Dr Umar Mustapha Madawaki, a.k.a Otumba of Ekiti who was disenchanted by the incessant kidnappings and killings of innocent citizens, challenged by a hard time making a decent living, has pointed out that injustice is the bane of insecurity in Adamawa state and the country.
Otumba Thursday, registered his displeasure while condoling the family of Reverend Daniel Umaru of EYN Church Njairi in Mubi Local Government Area, Northern Senatorial District of Adamawa State whose house was attacked by gunmen that resulted in the killing of two members of the family with the Reverend hit by bullets.
The gubernatorial aspirant has called on the government at the national and state levels to invest in security with justice to be able to salvage the citizenry.
Absence of justice, entails absence of the rule of law, hence inequality before the law, the protest of which criminals resort to taking law into owns hands, committing atrocities in the name of vengeance against the innocent citizens.
“With injustice lies insecurity, with insecurity there cannot be any progress and development; farm lands would be abandoned, business areas would be diserted and worship places would be ignored, defining a Savage, Godless society in which only the fittest would survive.
“There is the need to review the system, inject the feeling of humanity with empathy and engage the restive youth in skills acquisition for self development in addition to other social welfare schemes for women empowerment, Otumba would point out.
Otumba who insisted that education must be a priority with a view to nip banditry and associated criminality in the bud lamented over the closure of public universities occasioned by the staff industrial actions.
“It is unfortunate that public universities are closed down for almost a semester and still counting with students idling at home. This isn’t educationally healthy for our country in the long run. It is said that an idle mind is the devil’s playground.
“Something needs be done, urgently too to salvage education and by implication the future of the country from decay”, Otumba said.
