The organizing secretary of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, Mustapha Atiku Ribadu has disclosed that the state party executives have no ulterior motive behind their consultation tour in Abuja.
Ribadu who was reacting to allegations by Sen. Ahmed Barata who accused the exco of supporting a particular candidate, noted that the statement is far from the truth as the visit was informed by the need to mobilize all stakeholders to ensure the party is not disenfranchised come 2023.
“With due respect to senator Barata, I want to state that his fears are misplaced because as executives, our desire is to ensure that our party is not schemed out of the 2023 election on account of the last court judgement.
“It is because of that, the chairman in his wisdom, organized the consultations with all the stakeholders with a view to carry everyone along in the process of rescuing our party.
“The consultations have proved useful as they provided an avenue where we interacted with a wide spectrum of party stakeholders and all of them offered candid suggestions on the way forward and I can say our party is once again a big happy family,” he said.
Ribadu noted that contrary to notions being portrayed by Barata to the effect that the exco were partisan in their support of a particular aspirant, he said in truth we have remained absolutely non partisan since the two are all aspiring to represent our party.
“It is worthy of note to say that we deliberately shun both Sen. Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani and Mal. Nuhu Ribadu during our consultations because we want to maintain absolute neutrality. I want to use this medium to appeal for calm and unity of purpose in the party as the executive work in harmony to ensure the “harsh” court decision is upturned.
“We are desperately working to ensure APC is on the ballot paper of gubernatorial election regardless of who is flying the ticket. We shall remain absolutely neutral in this matter and we have shown that by our refusal to visit any of the two personalities involved in the legal tussle,” he said.
